The influential younger sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un caused unrest in South Korea – by threatening military action and accusing activists of sending anti-Pyongyang pamphlets across the border.

Kim Yo Jong on Saturday described South Korea as an “enemy” and warned it would soon see the collapse of the “useless” inter-Korean liaison office at the border.

He said the North Korean military would determine how to respond to activist propaganda campaigns targeting North Koreans.

“By using my power endorsed by the supreme leader, our party and the country, I give instructions to the arm of the department responsible for dealing with the enemy to decisively take further action,” he said in a statement brought by the North Korea Central News Agency .

“If I give a little clue about our next plan, the (South Korean) authorities are worried, the right to take further action against the enemy will be entrusted to the General Staff of our army,” he said.

“Our forces, too, will determine something to cool down the hatred of our people and certainly do it, I believe.”

Kim, deputy director of the first department of the ruling Labor Central Committee, has gained significant power over the years and is even rumored to be the successor to Kim Jong Un in April when speculation revolves around the ruling health condition.

Relations between North and South Korea have deteriorated in recent months, with North Korean officials expressing frustration over the stalled nuclear talks with the Trump administration – discussions supported by South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
