Kevin De Bruyne: Manchester City midfielder named PFA Player of the Year 2020 | Football news
Kevin De Bruyne was named the 2020 Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year and Bethany England from Chelsea received the women’s award.
The midfielder defeated Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dyck, Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold to win the Liverpool title to become the first Manchester City award winner.
Alexander-Arnold nevertheless won the PFA Young Player of the Year award, beating young England players Tammy Abraham, Mason Greenwood, Mason Mount, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka.
City fell behind the Reds with a total of 18 points in the 2019/20 Premier League season, but De Bruyne, who scored 13 goals and a record 20 assists, was voted the best player in the campaign by his peers and quickly thanked his manager for handing him the full creative license.
“Most of the time, he allows me to be myself,” the 29-year-old said of Guardiola. “We often talk about the team, but in many ways he knows that when he gives orders about what the team should do, I will listen.
“But on the other hand, he gives me a lot of freedom; I don’t know why, it just happens between us.
“He knows that in one sense I will always put the team first, and then, obviously, if I can help myself, I will.
“But he knows that I want the team to win, and if the team wins, I will benefit from it. So I think in that sense he feels good and trusts me completely. “
Alexander-Arnold played 12 clean games in Liverpool’s triumph as well as 13 assists and four goals, continuing to develop his already lethal play on all courts.
The 21-year-old has warned Liverpool’s rivals that German boss Klopp’s squad is far from satisfied with their success.
“This first taste of success and the opportunity to raise trophies will never stop, and the disappointments that come along the way also fuel this hunger,” said Alexander-Arnold.
“So it’s probably the perfect combination of wanting to be successful and not wanting to experience the frustrations we have experienced in the past.
“And I think both as a team and as an individual, the mentality is to keep going forward because we haven’t finished yet.”
Chelsea women’s team Bethany England defeated WSL top scorer Vivian Midem to win the women’s award ahead of team-mates Sophie Ingle, Guro Reiten and Ji So-Yoon.
Manchester City’s Lauren Hemp has won the Women’s Youth Trophy, beating her teammates Chloe Kelly, Georgia Stanway and Ellie Roebuck. Erin Cuthbert from Chelsea and Lauren James from Manchester United also made it to the final.
City re-signed on Tuesday with England defender Lucy Bronze of Lyon and Hemp believes City is the place to go.
She said, “At this point, I think it’s time to be in the City, and I think people from the outside are watching and saying, ‘Wow, they’re going to be doing well this season.”

The dollar continues to reflect the political scenario
Yesterday, financial agents evaluated the opposite decision of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) regarding the so-called secret budget. In addition, a decision was made by STF Minister Gilmar Méndez to issue an injunction that would exclude the Bolsa Família from the spending cap rule, with investors trying to understand how this measure would affect the processing of the transitional PEC in the Chamber of Deputies. Oh this PEC!!!!
Since he is an exchange investor, any reading that the budget will be exceeded or become more flexible will negatively affect the exchange market, whether through the PEC or in any other way. We will continue with volatility today.
Looking beyond, the US Central Bank (Fed), although slowing down the pace of monetary tightening at its December meeting, issued a tougher-than-expected statement warning that its fight against inflation was not yet over, raising fears that rising US interest rates will push the world’s largest economy into recession.
The currency market continues to react to political news. The voting on the PEC is saved for today. It is expected that it will indeed be reviewed to open the way tomorrow for discussions on the 2023 budget.
For today on the calendar we will have an index of consumer confidence in the eurozone. Good luck and good luck in business!!

The EU has reached a political agreement on limiting gas prices – 19.12.2022
The agreement was approved by a supermajority at a ministerial meeting of member states in Brussels, Belgium, after months of discussions about the best way to contain the rise in natural gas prices in the bloc caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. .
The value set by the countries is well below the proposal made by the European Commission, the EU’s executive body, in November: 275 EUR/MWh. However, the countries leading the cap campaign were in favor of an even lower limit, around 100 EUR/MWh.
Germany, always wary of price controls, voted in favor of 180 euros, while Austria and the Netherlands, also skeptical of the cap, abstained. Hungary, the most pro-Russian country in the EU, voted against.
The instrument will enter into force on 15 February, but only if natural gas prices on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange exceed 180 euros/MWh for three consecutive days. In addition, the difference compared to a number of global benchmarks should be more than 35 euros.
Italy, the EU’s biggest supporter of the ceiling, has claimed responsibility for the measure. “This is a victory for Italy, which believed and worked for us to reach this agreement,” Environment and Energy Minister Gilberto Picetto tweeted.
“This is a victory for Italian and European citizens who demand energy security,” he added.
Currently, the gas price in Amsterdam is around 110 EUR/MWh, which is already a reflection of the agreement in Brussels – in August the figure even broke the barrier of 340 EUR/MWh.
However, Russia has already threatened to stop exports to countries that adhere to the ceiling. (ANSA).
