The judge appointed the popular jury of the former mayor of Pien in the Curitiba metropolitan area, Gilberto Dranca, for June 21, 2022.

The Paraná Prosecutor’s Office (MP-PR) accuses him of being one of the culprits in the murder of Loire Drevec in December 2016. At that time, Drevek was recently elected mayor of the municipality.

The victim was traveling with his family to Santa Catarina in a PR-420 when he was caught off guard by a motorcyclist and was shot in the head. He died three days later in the hospital.

Suspected of involvement in the crime, Gilberto Dranca was discovered by police on January 31 during an operation conducted by the Center for Police Special Operations (COPE). Watch the video below

According to MP-PR, Dranka, who was the mayor of the municipality from 2009 to 2016, and then-mayor Leonides Maach were intellectual writers planning a crime that was committed by two other men.

All defendants will go to the jury.

The defense of Gilberto Dranca declared that the defendant was innocent. “He was involved in a diabolical conspiracy that pursued political, economic and some untold interests that led him to be drawn into this murder charge,” said attorney Claudio Dalledone.
