And Finance confirms that the refund will be made in a different way: by bank transfer of the amount that will be returned to the customers’ account, and not through immediate discounts, as previously assumed, after negotiations with banks on the inclusion of payment terminals in the program

Turn, also reported by Observer, aims to respond to criticism from program traders, whose “The adhesion was not desired by consumers or companies,” the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Similar Services of Portugal (AHRESP) assessed for Expresso.

Thus, Finance and SaltPay, the digital financial services company that operates the program, have proposed a solution that allows banks to use conventional payment systems to take advantage of the discount, “with IVAucher balances refunded directly by banking institutions to the consumer’s bank account.” – explains the ministry headed by João Leau.

Merchants will be able to provide discounts immediately if they use the SaltPay networks, that is, if payment is made through ATMs, the IVAucher app or software billing fintech

Despite some existing restrictions, Finance emphasizes in a statement that “the available data for June indicates a significant increase in invoices, tax base and related VAT over 2020, reaching levels close to pre-period levels. , a trend that is expected to intensify in July and August. “

The ministry is sending July and August data over the next few weeks, while waiting for sellers to report August invoices by September 12, in line with the statutory deadline.

Finances will inform consumers of the final amounts calculated by September 30th.
