September 18, International Wage Day, is dedicated to questions and showing the impact of wage differentials between men and women on economic development and inequality. And the differences persist.

If you are a woman, you certainly earn less than the man sitting next to you with the same level of responsibility and the same tasks. There are exceptions, but the statistics do not fail: equal work does not always mean equal pay. A few days ago, actress Jennifer Lawrence spoke out on exactly this subject, stating that “it doesn’t matter how much I do” (“no matter how much i do“) because, he continued, the gender difference would persist. I sensed a kind of submissiveness in his words, based on the assumption that when asked about the reason for the wage difference, employers always say that there is no gender inequality, without being able to explain, why women have lower salaries. Therefore, it is important to ask how much you earn, but even more so, are you satisfied with what you earn. Because I am not.
