On Tuesday, Instagram announced the launch of Notes, a new way to send short messages, and said it was testing other tools, including Candid Stories, which let you take pictures with both cameras on your phone.

The Notes service is a way to exchange text messages and emoji with followers and groups of followers, Meta, the owner of Instagram, said in a statement.

Short texts appear within 24 hours at the top of the inbox of recipients who can reply, just like stories.

According to the social network, this tool responds to the desire of many users to have an easy way to share their thoughts and start a conversation, such as asking for recommendations or reporting what they are doing.

Instagram also plans to provide the ability to create group profiles so that several people can share images and videos with each other without being seen by all followers.

The company also announced that it is testing a tool called Candid Stories, a kind of spontaneous stories that will allow users to take pictures of what they are doing at the moment and share them with other contacts who are also doing it.

After posting their first explicit stories, users will receive a daily notification to share a new image.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the feature is similar to what the BeReal app offers, which has gained a lot of popularity lately, with a focus on more spontaneous images that include a picture taken with the phone’s front and rear cameras.

Thus, users who regularly receive notifications about the possibility of sharing images often show themselves and what they are looking at at the moment.
