If you’ve been one of the consumers who needed to buy a graphics card over the past couple of years, then you’re probably up against a difficult task. In addition to the shortage of components caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to a lack of stock of GPUs in stores, exaggerated prices, driven by the law of supply and demand, made the purchase of graphics chips thankless.

But, fortunately, this situation seems more than solved and outdated, since, according to the latest information, in Europe we can already find video cards for sale at a price 23% lower than recommended by brands at the launch date.

Video card prices continue to fall

According to the latest data published by the German site 3DCentergraphics card prices continue to fall, to the relief of all consumers who have been waiting for this information to proceed with the purchase of this equipment.

Published data shows that, on average, all AMD Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards are 8% below the original manufacturer's recommended price. In turn, the average price of Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 GPUs is only 2% higher than the price tag at the release date.

For comparison, in beginning of May 2022, the average price of AMD GPUs rose by 7% and Nvidia by 13%. At the end of the same month, these values increased by 2% and another 6%, respectively. However, as of May 2021, Nvidia and AMD's next-gen graphics cost 218% and 116% more, respectively.

In the case of AMD, the average is mainly due to the price of the Radeon RX 6500 XT model, which is 23% below the recommended price. The Radeon RX 6600 is priced 20% off, followed by the Radeon RX 6950 XT, priced 16% off. But there are examples where the opposite is true, such as the Radeon RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT, which cost 6% and 3% more, respectively.

From Nvidia's side, the cheapest models are the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, 16% cheaper; GeForce RTX 3080 Ti (-13%); GeForce RTX 3090 (~8%); and 12 GB GeForce RTX 3080 (-2%). With prices still high, we have GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (+17%), GeForce RTX 3050 (+13%) and GeForce RTX 3060 (+11%).
