Two people died and three were injured when they were picked up by Tesla after the driver allegedly lost control of the car that was following him at high speed in China. The company guarantees that it will cooperate with the Chinese police in investigating the accident.

The incident occurred on the 5th of this month in Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province. The two dead were a motorcyclist and a young student, according to Jimi News, a local media outlet. The video, which includes footage from multiple security cameras, shows the Tesla crashing into other cars and a cyclist at high speed. A 55-year-old member of the driver’s family told the same media that problems with the brake pedal caused the car to wobble when the driver tried to park near the family store. Tesla picked up speed and ended up killing two people and injuring three more.

A Tesla source assured Reuters that Chinese authorities are looking for an independent agency that can find out the truth about the accident and warns of “rumors”. The company also points out that the video can verify that the brake lights did not come on when the car was accelerating, and that the available data indicate that there was no action to activate the brakes.

Video of this accident has been shared thousands of times on social media in the past few hours.
