Portugal lost on Tuesday to France (5: 3) in the European roller hockey match in Paredes, and dropped to third place in the first stage of the competition.

Roberto di Benedetto opened the scoring three minutes later and Carlo di Benedetto extended the French lead nine minutes later. Before the break, Portugal could not react in any way.

At the beginning of the second half, everything was different. João Rodrigues scored 2: 1 from a free-kick, in the 26th minute Gonçalo Alves shot the crossbar, and Portugal threatened to tie the ball, but goalkeeper Bonneau resisted.

It smelled like a draw and João Rodrigues was very close to scoring again, but Bonneau defended again, and in response, Roberto di Benedetto made the score 3: 1. What a bucket of cold water was. Portugal charged a goal and lost fourth to Carlo di Benedetto two minutes later.

The national team nevertheless scored the second goal to Gonçalo Alves one and a half minutes before the end, but soon after that Roberto di Benedetto made the score 5: 2, which was impossible to dream of. True, Gonçalo Alves scored twice more, but it was no longer possible to avoid defeat. Carlo de Benedetto scored two goals, Roberto di Benedetto scored three, and together they beat the national team.

Thus, France added a second victory in two rounds and leads the first round of the European Roller Hockey Championship with six points. Team Galla came as a big surprise for the competition, having already beaten Portugal and Italy. Spain is in second place. Portugal dropped to third place with four games remaining in the first leg.
