FToday, Atima López filmed a video live with her Instagram account followers, where she expressed her regret at the current dramatic situation with the fires that continue to break out in Portugal.
The excited presenter noted that it is necessary to bet on prevention and environmental protection.
“I feel deep sadness. Many times I wake up at night with these images in my head: the country is on fire, and this has affected me a lot, and I am not the only person.“, he admits.
“There is one thing that worries me and makes me think: things repeat themselves year after year. We have the same scenario every year,” he muses, regretting that concrete measures are not being taken to avoid these scenarios.
Taking the opportunity, the presenter also thanked all the specialists involved in the fight against the flames, namely firefighters, forest sappers, representatives of civil protection and authorities.
“The word ‘prevention’ is still deaf, there is no real prevention, and then when the time comes, we talk about how we are going to deal with all these fires. It cannot go on like this,” he warns.
However, with tears in his eyes, the communicator says: “The image of people running and clinging to firefighters and saying ‘save my house’, I can’t live with it. It could be my mother, my grandmother, we cannot be indifferent.”
