Hot Property: Onetime Palm Springs sells Loretta Young’s home

One of the most striking houses in Palm Springs – the Midcentury haunted house once owned by the late Hollywood star Loretta Young – has sold for $ 1.15 million after it was registered late last year.

The Oscar winner owned the land until his death in 2000, and it was sold shortly after $ 530,000, records show.

Even in a city full of architecturally striking homes, this one stands out with striking indoor and outdoor spaces. A closed entry is flanked by fountains and ponds approaching the house, which is moored by a round living room with a special fireplace and stylish tray ceiling.

Glass walls, terrazzo floors and accents touch the entire living room, which includes a music room and spacious kitchen with curved tables.

Three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms complete the 3,510 square feet floor plan, including an indoor main bathroom with a spa tub, waterfall, pool, outdoor shower and pocketed glass walls. The landscape arranges the slick space.

The curve continues outside, where the statue surrounds the swimming pool with curved sides. A covered patio and lounge on the treetops complete the property’s quarter acre, which is hidden behind double gates.

Young switched from silent films to talkies to television during his long career. She made nearly 100 films, mostly romance or comedy, and won an Oscar for the lead actress for “The Farmer’s Daughter” and won another Oscar nomination for “Come to the Stable.” From 1953 to 1961, he starred in the dramatic anthology series “The Loretta Young Show.”

Randy Roy from Domus Realty Partners holds the listing. Larry Griffith of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties represented the buyer.
