Rafael Vega, founder of legendary Mexican restaurant Sherman Oaks Casa Vega, is still trying to cook sales in Studio City. He bought back his romantic Fryman Canyon heritage for $ 5.289 million, down $ 2.5 million from the asking price in 2018.

Despite the price cuts, restaurant owners should have no problem in making a profit. He paid around $ 2.8 million for the house in 2003, when he bought it from actress Drew Barrymore and comedian Tom Green.

This property covers more than one hectare and is furnished with 1940s hacienda, a guesthouse and a beautiful outdoor area moored by a 400 year old oak tree. The boldly arranged living room fills the interior of 6,456 square feet, complete with five fireplaces, six bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

Crystal chandeliers and special wallpapers are in the spotlight in the formal dining room and chef’s kitchen, and the dramatic family room incorporates wooden paneled walls, sliding glass doors, white beams, and stacked stone accents. Other highlights are present in the main bathroom such as the solarium, which offers domed glass ceilings and a spa tub.

Five garden lounges fill a secluded area, leading to a swimming pool with a covered terrace. This guesthouse has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room with a stone fireplace.

Karen and Jack Misraje from Compass hold the list.

Vega opened Casa Vega in 1956, and over the years, Sherman Oaks staples have attracted many regular guests including Marlon Brando, Jane Fonda, Cary Grant and Michael Jackson.
