A month ago, the company decided to cut the workweek of nearly 200 employees from five to four days, becoming one of the first, if not the only one of its size, to adopt a model that is being discussed in a growing number of countries. and what the government now wants to experience in Portugal. Most workers start their weekends on Friday, while those who work more with clients take additional vacations in turns during the week. Each added a day to their free time without a pay cut. “They are very happy,” says director Sergio Vieira, convinced that “it is only a matter of time” before this regime becomes universal.

“Given the context in which we live, technological acceleration, the expectations of new generations who no longer “live to work” and prefer time more, I have no doubt that this will be inevitable. We just decided to anticipate the future,” he says. Over four working days, the working day increased from eight to nine hours, but the official believes that this additional hour does not entail a change in the daily routine of most workers, since this was the time they lost in daily trips to offices, to Lisbon and Braga, which ended in September when the company switched to remote work.
