Haitian singer Micabén dies on stage

Haitian singer Micabén, 41, died during a concert this weekend in Paris. The musician, very popular in his country, was the victim of a heart attack.

The show of the Caribbean group Carimi at the Paris Acoor arena this Saturday evening ended tragically.

Invited to perform with the band, musician Mikaben suffered a heart attack during a performance.

“Died after falling on stage despite intervention by emergency services,” the organization said on Twitter.

Several videos shared over the past few hours on social media show the singer suddenly passing out as he leaves the stage in the middle of a song.

“This is a beautiful piece of Haitian music that has just passed away. The country and the Haitian youth have lost a beautiful soul,” Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry lamented on social media on Sunday.

Mickaben was born in Port-au-Prince in 1981 to singer Lionel Benjamin. A singer-songwriter and producer, he performed several hits with the Carimi group, including “Baby, I Missed You” and “Fanm sa move”.
