Rio de Janeiro Governor Claudio Castro (PSC) announced today on his Twitter that he tested positive for covid-19. This is the second time a politician has been infected with this disease. Castro says in the post that he only has a “mild runny nose” and advises the public to get vaccinated.

Castro attended public events last week. On the 30th, Castro attended a public event and did not wear protective masks against illness. Images posted on his Twitter show him performing in front of a crowded audience at Fazenda Paraíso, billed as a drug treatment center.

The day before he attended the auction of the 3rd block of Cedae (State Water Supply and Sewerage Company) in São Paulo. On Tuesday (28) Castro announced that he was attending a meeting with the mayors of the Campos Basin.

Castro’s first infection occurred while he was still acting governor, in October 2020, pending the completion of the impeachment process of Wilson Witzel. At the time, Castro had headaches and a runny nose as symptoms and continued to send messages remotely, in isolation.
