Governor John Bel Edwards lifts ban on home masks for all fully vaccinated individuals, with a few exceptions

Gov. John Bel Edwards has revised Louisiana’s guidelines on COVID-19 masks, stating that those who are fully vaccinated no longer need to wear masks indoors or outdoors in most cases. Edwards also spoke at a West Bank dinner on Friday, where he announced that he is scrapping mandatory masks inside government buildings in line with new guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control. The CDC said Thursday that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks indoors or outdoors. Edwards said masks will continue to be required statewide in certain locations, including K-12 schools, public transportation, prisons and nursing homes. Businesses will be able to decide whether they will retain their internal masks, Edwards said. Mayor LaToya Cantrell also announced that the city of New Orleans will follow suit and that fully vaccinated people will no longer have to wear masks indoors, starting tomorrow at 6 a.m.
