Consumers expect and demand greater privacy for their data and information stored on their Android tablets and smartphones. With this in mind, Google will be working on a new initiative called “Protected by Android” that will be introduced with the brand’s next operating system version, Android 13.

In fact, the North American technology company has even released a short video in which we can see some of the main innovations and added value of this “platform”. There we are presented with the Protected by Android system, the purpose of which is, first of all, to protect users from malware and other software threats that can compromise the security of our data and information.

Protected Android must be built into Android version 13

The platform was first noticed by the publication 9to5Google, and the video was published by Google itself. Then, in a short 50-second snippet, we see some of the highlights and ways in which the system keeps user information secure.

The goal is noble and aims to eliminate the need to even think about a dedicated malware app, let alone Android antivirus, a category of apps that often do more harm than good to a regular Android device.

In short, this video shows us the features of the Google platform and ecosystem. First, we have “Verified by Play Protect”, a guarantee of protection against fake apps, malware, spyware and other threats that might try to infiltrate apps available on the Google Play Store.

Security improvement to be introduced by Google in Android 13

Secondly, the new platform will inform the user about monthly security updates. What has so far been distributed by mobile device manufacturers in the form of patches which, in turn, are distributed by Google itself to major OEMs.

Finally, this platform will make it easier to find and manage the permissions assigned to each application. Thus, the user will have a localized and easy-to-use control center. There you can find out about the security status of your mobile device and the related information it contains.

Now it remains to wait for the further development of this new feature, which is expected to be integrated into Google’s version of Android 13. Finally, this version should be distributed by the end of 2022 by a North American technology company.
