What year! We are getting closer to the first anniversary of Ghost of Tsushima and we are very grateful for all the love we have received since its release. It’s really great to see Jin’s story resonate with all of you, and we’re very lucky to have such a loyal and welcoming fan base.

We thought a lot about how to expand Jin’s story, and we’ve also spent the last year going through all of his comments on how we could improve the Ghost of Tsushima experience. We’ve worked hard to create a new revision of the game that not only includes a new chapter in Jin’s journey, but also contains some updates that are direct responses to some of the most requested features from the community.

We are pleased to announce that on August 20, we will be releasing Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Version for PS5 and PS4 consoles. This new edition includes not only the original game and all the additional content we’ve released so far, but also a new adventure for Gene and a host of new features that we can’t wait to reveal.

Iki island

If you are a history buff, you may know that Iki Island, adjacent to Tsushima, was also captured during the same period. We are thrilled to announce today that a whole new chapter is coming in Jin’s journey and that the story will take place in Iki. In this new adventure, Jin travels to the island to investigate rumors of the Mongol presence there. But he soon finds himself caught up in events that raise deeply personal issues and cause him to relive traumatic moments from his past.

We’ll be sharing more about Ica’s story shortly, but today we can confirm that, in addition to a completely new story and new characters, the new island also has a lot of new content, including environments to explore and armor. for Gene and his horse, mini-games, techniques, types of enemies and more. There are even new animals to pet!

On both platforms, the Director version will also offer new trophies that will be unlocked with new Iki content.

PS5 Exclusive Features

Anyone who plays Director’s Version on both PS4 and PS5 will be able to experience Iki Island content, but people using the PlayStation 5 will have access to some additional features.

We’ve heard your comments about the lack of lip sync in Japanese dubs in the original version of Ghost of Tsushima, and we’ve worked hard to fix this issue in this new release. With the ability to render scenes in real time on PS5, scenes in Ghost of Tsushima and Iki Island on PS5 are now lip-synced with Japanese dubbing.

We’re also pleased to confirm that Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, and the new Iki Island expansion will benefit from tactile feedback and adaptive triggers in the Director’s Release. There will also be improvements in 3D sound * for the PS5, as well as significantly improved load times, 4K resolution ** and frame rates with 60fps capability.

Transferring progress

If you already own Ghost of Tsushima on PS4, you can transfer your progress to PS5 and pick up where you left off. For those new to the game, brand new content from Iki Island will be available starting in Act 2 of Ghost of Tsushima, once you reach the Tootama region.

Other updates

In addition to the Director’s version, those who already own Ghost of Tsushima will be able to download an update containing some new features. Again, many of these updates are due to the constant stream of suggestions and comments you have provided to us since launch, for which we are immensely grateful.

All players will receive an update with a new photo mode, new accessibility options for reconfiguring the controller, and the ability to enable crosshair lock during combat. And for those of you who constantly tweet us asking for the ability to hide the quiver during a match: yes, we’ll add that feature too!

Finally, fans of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, we will also be releasing new updates, including a mode full of new features that we can’t wait to expand on in the coming weeks. All updates to Ghost of Tsushima: Legends *** will be available for free to anyone who owns any version of Ghost of Tsushima, regardless of platform.
