“Current numbers [de infeções] in Israel, they show that the third dose is important to combat the fourth wave, ”Health Minister Jens Spahn said in a statement to the Bild newspaper.

The outgoing government minister acknowledges that the current vaccination rate is inadequate and is calling for a summit between the executive branch and the federal states to spur the introduction of a third dose of the vaccine.

Last year’s state of emergency law, which passed the federal government passed emergency powers to combat the pandemic, is expected to be repealed on November 24.

From that day on, responsibility for taking action is again assigned to the regional authorities.

On Friday, Jens Spahn decided to provide a third dose of vaccine to all interested citizens, which sparked controversy in the country.

In Germany, 66.7% of citizens completed vaccination, and this percentage could not be increased, despite numerous appeals from the political environment to citizens.

Next Thursday, the German health minister will chair a conference with federal state officials and propose encouraging citizens over the age of 60 to receive a third dose of the vaccine.
