Gasoline and diesel prices will fall this week

Fuel prices fell again this week, with an expected average decline of two cents per liter for diesel and one and a half cents for gasoline as a result of the dynamics of world prices for Brent oil and refined products. This is the second fall in a row after three weeks of climbing.

This means that, based on the average price available on the website of the Directorate General of Energy and Geology, this regular diesel fuel should start next week at 1.93 euros per liter, while regular gasoline 95 should drop to 1.81 euros per liter. liter. liter.

Thus, gasoline costs the same as before the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It was already lower in August and stayed that way for nine weeks until October 10, when it rose to 1,825 euros per litre. The following week, it reached an average of 1886 euros.

As for diesel fuel, despite this further decline, it remains 16.5% above the pre-war level. The explanation lies in the fact that there is a shortage of diesel fuel in Europe, the situation is aggravated by strikes at oil refineries in France and increased demand for diesel fuel as a source of heat, as an alternative to natural gas, the prices of which were extremely high. .

The rebate on the tax on petroleum products (ISP), which will take effect from November, has not yet been determined, since in October the government decided to reduce it by 4.4 cents for gasoline and 0.1 cents for diesel fuel.
