Gary Neville said that he advised Manchester United to sign Andre Gomes and Joao Canselo. The former England player has worked with both of them throughout his brief coaching experience at Valencia.

“I called England, and you can imagine what club he went to … Said that if they ever bet on a young player, it must be him,” he said in a conversation with Martin Tyler at your own podcast.

“Kanchelo and André Gomes were exceptional talents who, no doubt, could prove themselves in the Premier League. Andre had serious injuries that hindered his development, ”he added.

The Manchester United legend also defended the fact that João Canselo’s move to Serie A had “hardened” him from a defensive standpoint.

“I think that the education that Canselo received in Italy was good for him. Italy strengthens you defensively as well as playing for Juventus. When he arrived in England, the only question he had was whether City needed to spend that amount on a defender because they already had players for that position, ”he argued.

Finally, Gary Neville concluded by praising the Portuguese international defender.

“I had no doubts about what kind of player he was. He is a sports trainer and is very strong in ball play. He’s a tough guy, strong and brave. He is able to influence the game both in defense and in attack, ”he concluded.
