The goalkeeper of the futsal team Centro Social da Bufarda in Atugia da Balea, Peniche, Ricardo Costa, died on Saturday after being wounded in the abdomen.

From what JN learned, the player was placed in the Peniche Hospital do Oeste, then transferred to the Caldas da Rainha department and finally to the Lisbon hospital, but in the end he did not resist.

At Centro Social da Bufarda, no one wanted to make a statement, given the dismay over the death of 25-year-old Ricardo Costa, who was still on the club’s board. In a “post” posted on Facebook, the club asks the entire management, futsal team and technical team to gather strength to continue the fight. “We keep good times, friendship and communication … always, Ricardo.”

The Gazeta das Caldas newspaper writes that the goalkeeper felt ill on Friday after deflecting a blow from an opposing player, Social Center Évora de Alcobas, with his stomach area.

In the pavilion, the player was assisted by the medical teams of the clubs, and then by the Peniche firefighters, who arrived at the scene at 22:50 and took the athlete to Peniche, and then to Caldas da Rainha.

Ricardo Costa graduated from Grupo Desportivo de Peniche, where he played as a junior and junior between the 2011/12 and 2013/14 seasons, according to Gazeta das Caldas. Three years later, he resumed his activities at the Sporting Clube da Estrada futsal and then at the Centro Social da Bufarda, which he represented for three seasons.
