Mark Clattenburg, one of the main English referees for 13 years, decided to write an autobiography entitled “Whistle Blower”, in which he would recount some episodes of his career.

The Dailly Mail published one of the stories told in the book, which featured the English referee and Jose Mourinho after the meeting between Manchester United and Stoke City.

“I am often asked if there was a game in which I thought to give up my career in the Premier League. What I’m going to tell you, as far as I can remember, was like the moment when I thought, “You know what, I don’t want to know about this anymore,” he began with what he said.

“It was at the meeting between Stoke City and Manchester United on January 21, 2017. Rooney broke Sir Bobby Charlton’s record for goals scored from a free kick at the end of a match that ended in a draw. After the game, someone knocked on the door of my bathhouse. Jose Mourinho came in, I took off my shoes and said to him: “This time he must be happy. You can’t blame me for the tie, can you? “- he added.

The truth is that “Special” considered this a complaint of the referee. “He said he could blame me and started talking about Shawcross’s hand with the ball in the Stockholm area. ‘What are you talking about? I decided well and I know what I did, ”I replied. “No, I saw the video, you were wrong,” he insisted. At that moment, I grabbed a boot and threw it against the wall next to him. “Damn it, get out of my locker room. Get out! “- he said.

Clattenburg, who played in the 2016 European Championships and Finals, decided that night that he would no longer play in England.

“I got scared with him [Mourinho] and I realized that I was not going to put up with it anymore, I was tired of these ridiculous mind games. I went home, watched the game and realized that I made the best decision when the ball hit Shawcross in the chest. I went to bed that night and realized that I was sick of it. I thought to myself that I will no longer be upset with such idiots, ”he said.

Mark Klatteburg retired from English football and judged league matches between China and Saudi Arabia between 2018 and 2019.
