Southern California has many exclusive communities, but maybe no more than Hollister Ranch. Quiet beach communities on the Santa Barbara coastline offer some of the most authentic beaches in the state but are difficult to reach, and for most, the only way is to own one of the 136 properties there.

For those who are looking for a way in, a rare opportunity has just emerged. A 105-hectare plot of land, which houses the original Hollister family home, has just reached a market of $ 15.95 million.

This is the first time this house has been registered in two decades, and was offered by a third property owner in 110 years.

Consisting of open grasslands, canyon cliffs and grove of forests, this estate offers everything that makes Hollister Ranch unique. Two houses are anchored on the ground: a 1930s-style Monterey place known as the Ritz and a three-bedroom inn.

In addition to shelter, there are 47 acres of exotic protea flower plantations, lemon and avocado gardens, horse pastures, barns and ocean cliffs along 800 meters, as well as private winding paths to the beach.

Located on a protection hill at the base of the foothills, the main house covers 4,100 square feet with five bedrooms and four bathrooms. It was renovated in the 90s, and highlights include a living room with wooden panels and wooden doors, a work space with a fireplace and a Saltillo tiled kitchen.

On the main floor, French doors open onto a sea view courtyard. Upstairs, they expand to a spacious balcony overlooking the old oak trees on the property.

And Johnson from Berkshire Hathaway Home Services California Properties holds the listing.

The Hollister Ranch was bought by William Welles Hollister in the 1800s and remains one of the largest undeveloped coastal areas in Southern California. Covering 14,400 hectares, it functions as a nature reserve that is decorated with small ranches and has 8.5 miles of largely untouched coastline which tides attract fishing surfers from around the country.
