Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin, 36, has been criticized for attending a nightclub hours after she learned that her government minister, Pekka Haavisto, has tested positive for covid-19.

While Finnish law does not require a person who has received two doses of the vaccine to be placed in isolation after contact with a positive patient, the prime minister’s risky behavior has been heavily criticized, especially from opposition parties, who hoped that Marin would voluntarily perform isolation from him. until a negative result is obtained, as recommended.

“Of course, their behavior was unwise – it was irresponsible,” said Mia Laiho of the Party’s National Commission.

Marin publicly apologized in a post on Facebook, where he admitted that he should have taken a different position on the situation.

“I’m very sorry that I didn’t understand that I need to do this,” it says.

Since September, the number of infections in the country has been increasing, which cannot be said about the popularity of the Prime Minister, which, according to polls, is falling. Due to the parliamentary elections in 2023, the Finnish Social Democratic Party is now lagging behind the National Coalition Party led by Petteri Orpo.
