The FEQUIMFAR Political Advisory Board, made up of representatives from 32 affiliated unions, met today, November 1, at the Chemical Federation Headquarters in Sao Paulo, CA.

The meeting takes place shortly after the second round of the general election, when Luis Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), who was elected President of Brazil, and Geraldo Alcmín (PSB), who served as Vice President, won.

“We thank the leadership of each union for seeking pre-election debates and contesting votes. Even in the face of difficulties, our struggle was important in dialogue, in the fight against disinformation and in the victory of democracy. The election of President Lula represents the hope for a better and more just country in the face of a priority agenda that includes fighting hunger, restoring labor rights and upholding democracy.”

The political council of FEQUIMFAR this morning expected the presence of vice-president-elect Geraldo Alcmina, but in a telephone conversation with President Serginho, he explained his absence by the call of the President of the Republic to take on the role of coordinator of the government transition group.

Assessment of the election results and the situation

Edson Diaz Bicallo, Secretary General of FEQUIMFAR and President of the Chemical Union of Bauru and the region, coordinated the event, which took place in person and remotely.

The opening table was attended by Jurandir Pedro de Souza, CFO of FEQUIMFAR, Antonio Silvan Oliveira, President of the CNTQ and Guarulhos Union of Chemists, and Maria Auxiliadora dos Santos, Secretary of Women’s Policy at Força Sindical and President of STTI Musical Instruments. and toys.

André Santos, political analyst at DIAP (Inter-Union Parliamentary Consultancy), analyzed the composition of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. He also highlighted the main issues and challenges of the trade union movement: “The unity of the struggle of the trade union movement, with the support of civil society, will be essential for a broad discussion of labor issues and cross-cutting agendas.” Fausto Augusto Jr., CTO of DIEESE, spoke about the political, economic and social situation in the country and commented on the main challenges that the new government must face.

After explanations, the presidents and leaders of affiliated unions drew conclusions about the data presented and assessed the election campaign.

Bicallo took the opportunity to emphasize that the Chemical Group must maintain its work and unity, marked by proposals for development and the creation of improvements for the working class, a commitment that is recognized nationally and internationally.
