Despite being packed with technology, Tesla vehicles have been criticized for exactly what they brought. There are many known cases where the autopilot failed and fatal accidents occurred.

This is a sad reality that has been explored and now has new cases. There have been two new fatal accidents recently, and authorities have reopened their investigation into the situation and what Tesla is offering drivers.

Tesla may have new problems with autopilot

Despite its name, Tesla Autopilot is not the autonomous driving system that many people think. The operation of this system has been the most frequently cited cause of many recent problems and accidents with this brand of vehicle. The importance is high and authorities have launched an investigation into Autopilot.

This scenario is now back on the table with two cases that happened within a few days. Two fatal crashes involving Tesla vehicles with active autopilot have raised the issue again and prompted authorities to reopen the investigation.

Two new recent fatal accidents

first case happened in California, with a Tesla car fatally colliding with a pedestrian. The vehicle is believed to have fired and hit a 39-year-old woman. However, the driver was charged with murder and driving under the influence of drugs during the incident.

second case happened in Florida. It accelerated and crashed into the back of a truck trailer parked in a truck stop. Both the driver and partner died immediately in the accident. Authorities do not yet know if autopilot was active on this Tesla.

US officials are investigating

The two cases will be investigated by the NHTSA to determine the responsibility and performance of Tesla systems. These situations will be added to others already being evaluated and have resulted in multiple injuries and one death.

Some conclusions have already been drawn and show that Tesla's autopilot seems to ignore some elements after dark. We are talking about signs, road markings and other elements that could prevent these situations if the system interpreted them correctly.
