Fans made a petition to change the name NYC Longacre Theater after Nick Cordero

Fans have launch the petition renamed the Longacre Theater in New York City in memory of Broadway star Nick Cordero, who died on Sunday due to complications from coronavirus.

Longacre, which is home to Cordero’s last broadway show “A Bronx Tale,” was built in 1912 and is currently named Longacre Square – the original name for Times Square. The refilled theater will be called “The Nick Cordero Theater.”

The petition had more than 26,000 signatures on Tuesday.

“‘ A Bronx Tale, The Musical ’is the last Broadway show starring Nick Cordero. This musical broke the record for the longest running musical in Longacre history,” the petition read.

“With the passage of this very talented and loved Broadway star, it is the perfect memory for him and his family’s legacy, to ensure his name will always light up in the Broadway Community.”

Cordero, who was 41 at the time of his death, was treated at the Cedar-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles in April. He his right leg was amputated, and experienced a medically induced coma for most of his hospitalization.

A GoFundMe, the old one set after Cordero’s death to help support his wife, Amanda Cloots, and her one-year-old son, Elvis, have more than $ 984,630 with an initial goal of $ 48,000.
