Do you remember Famel, the Portuguese brand that revolutionized the 70s, 80s and 90s with their motorcycles? Get ready because you are back. The mythical model XF-17 now exists in a new all-electric and of course 100% Portuguese version, but its appearance on the market will depend on consumers.

In a new renaissance plan, Joel Sousa, the brand’s re-founder, intends to combine the legacy of the past with the technology of the present for the mobility of the future. “Let’s bring Famel back to Portugal!“, He says. “This is a truly beautiful motorcycle that we know has never left the hearts of the Portuguese. Therefore, after 7 years of engineering and design work, Famel is finally ready to bring people to the garage who want to remember and those who want to know this national icon.“.

The new prototype was built for display at the 5th Hybrid and Electric Auto Show, which will take place from 22 to 24 October in Alfandega do Porto. With the development of the electric motorcycle, the team intends to go beyond renewing this symbol by actively participating in the fight against climate change and promoting the concept of greener cities.

We want a brighter future both on the road and in the environment.”- guarantees Joel Sousa.

However, this is a small business that still needs investment to grow. To revive Famel, a minimum annual production of 2,000 units must be achieved.

We need funding to take this prototype to the next level, and to manufacture and market the E-XF. We are already crowdfunding and Famel needs the support of the Portuguese to become popular again.“, – explains the automotive engineer.

Stakeholders can contribute to brand growth by becoming ambassadors, visionaries, members, or investors. For more information see Famel website from November 1 or visit the stand of the brand at the exhibition “Hybrid and Electric Motors”.
