Facebook outlines plans to increase workforce diversity

Sheryl Sandberg Facebook on Thursday outlined plans to increase minority representation in the company’s high ranks.

In blog posts on social networking websites, the chief operating officer said Facebook would have 30 percent more people of color, including 30 percent more black employees, in leadership positions in the next five years.

Right-hand woman Mark Zuckerberg said that Facebook had committed to make half of its workforce come from “an underrepresented community by the end of 2023,” and to double the number of black and Latin employees in the next three years.

Hispanic employees currently make up 5.2 percent of Facebook’s workforce, according to the latest diversity report, while black employees represent 3.8 percent.

“We know that a more diverse team will make better decisions and build better products,” Sandberg wrote. “We invest in increasing diversity and inclusion because we care to do better in serving various communities around the world.”

Sandberg also said that Facebook would also invest $ 100 million in black creators and black-owned businesses, with $ 75 million “in cash grants and advertising credits to support Black-owned businesses and non-profit organizations serving the black community.”

Facebook promises to match The stated purpose of Google increasing the percentage of minorities in leadership by 30 in the next five years, and is the latest big promise to support the black community of the Silicon Valley giant since protests gripped the country after George Floyd’s assassination at the hands of police last time last month.
