Facebook Launches Virtual Reality Meeting App – Human Resources

Facebook has created a new virtual reality meeting application called Horizon Workrooms, where users can meet from a distance in a virtual space with avatars.

With this new app, the tech giant aims to attract virtual meeting users.

The necessary equipment (headset, virtual reality glasses) will cost 300 dollars (about 256 euros) and weigh half a kilogram.

People who do not have this device can join meetings using a video call.

Up to 50 people will be able to attend these meetings, but only 16 will be able to participate in the virtual reality space with avatars.

To get a full VR experience, users need to have a Facebook account.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is one of the enthusiasts of the metaverse, a vague concept embracing augmented and virtual reality with new forms of communication.

Zuckerberg hopes this will be a new way for people to use the Internet.

Virtual reality has never been applied, even during isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, when telecommuting became the new normal for millions of employees and made applications like Zoom’s video conferencing platform a household name.
