Eurovision 2021. Discover songs from the first semi-final

In 2020, for the first time since the creation of the Eurovision Song Contest in 1964, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) canceled the competition that was supposed to take place last May, given that all conditions were not met due to the pandemic of the situation. …

Thus, two years later, the 65th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in the Netherlands after winning 2019 in Israel under the slogan “Arcade“, Performed by Duncan Lawrence.

As always with the host country, songs from five other countries (“big five»: Germany, Spain, France, Italy and the UK) have direct and guaranteed access to the final, which will take place next Saturday, May 22nd.

The remaining 33 countries participating in the competition contest two semi-finals: in each of them, ten countries are selected to make it to the final. In the first semi-final, which took place on Tuesday in Rotterdam, the jury and the audience voted for the final of the following songs:

Azerbaijan – “the sun“(Owner)

Due to the pandemic, all 39 participating countries recorded performances to ensure that they would attend the event in case it was not possible to travel to Rotterdam during the festival.

This was the case in Australia, which has been participating in the festival since 2015, whose delegation was not allowed to leave due to sanitary regulations.

The two semi-finals, as well as the final, can be watched live, with 3,500 tickets sold for each show.

The Portuguese song will hit the stage next Thursday, the day of the second semi-final of the competition, which will be streamed live on RTP1 from 20:00.




Portugal this year is represented by the group “Black Mamba”, which interprets the theme “Love is on my side», Winner of the song festival organized by RTP.

The country entered the competition for the first time in 1964, and the best result was achieved in 2017, when Salvador Sobral interpreted the theme “Amar Pelos Dois”, composed by Louise Sobral. Portugal took first place and hosted the competition the following year, in 2018.
