End of line for Android Jelly Bean! Google will abandon this version

Nine years after its release Google announced support Android Jelly Bean. Released in 2012, this Android version brought great news to millions smartphonessuch as the introduction of Google Now, expandable notifications, AAC support, and more.

However, as we are used to seeing in Android history, it is only a matter of time before older versions see the end of the line come to an end. It has now been confirmed that the end of the Android Jelly Bean lineup will be at the end of August.

After the last update (21.30.99) it will be released by the end of next month and will be the last that smartphones with this version of Android will receive.

Google’s strategy keeps pace with Android’s Jelly Bean approach

For some time now, Google has implemented fairly clear instructions to end support for Android versions. Basically, when the market share of a version is below 1%, the company immediately starts analyzing the actual number of active devices.

As far as Android Jelly Bean goes, they believe that the vast majority of these registered devices are not even in use. These decisions ultimately bring tremendous relief to your development team as these older versions of the operating system require tremendous attention.
