Update: Following fan reactions, Electronic Arts has disabled in-game ads that run between rounds at UFC 4. In a statement released Eurogamer and posted on Reddit, the publisher said, “Earlier this week, the team turned on ad placement in EA SPORTS UFC 4 that appeared during ‘replay’ in gameplay. However, this type of ad inventory is not new to the UFC franchise. we usually reserved ad serving for certain main menu tiles or Octagon logo placement.

“It is clear from your feedback that the integration of ads into playback and overlays is discouraged. The team has disabled ads and we apologize for any gameplay disruption players may have experienced. “

The statement reads: “We understand that this should have been communicated to the players in advance, and that depends on us. We want our players to have the best possible EA SPORTS UFC 4 experience by integrating ads with play and overlays. will no longer appear in the future. Thanks for your continued feedback on EA SPORTS UFC 4. “

Original story: Damn it, this is an EA git. UFC 4, the publisher’s latest UFC simulator, released in mid-August and received strong critical acclaim. Less than a month later, however, EA decided to add real ads to the game. These advertisements don’t just appear at the bottom of the menu – they appear right in the middle of your fights.

Games Reddit community understandably outraged, and players begin to voice their opinions on social networks. This is certainly not the best view for EA given the company’s often conflicting history, but only time will tell if this move has any effect. We hope so.

However, perhaps the most egregious thing about this is that EA waited about three weeks before implementing this ad into the game. This means that when most professional publications considered the release, no such advertisement existed. It’s fair to assume that if they had been present at launch, this shit storm would have been a lot bigger.
