Don’t update drivers through Microsoft updates anymore

The end of support for Windows 7 left Windows 7 users without access to updates and new features. Even in this situation, Microsoft users insist that this system remains active and used.

Microsoft now appears to be looking to bring this system to an end. The software giant has decided that users will no longer be able to update their drivers with system updates and will have to resort to other methods.

Same with an end as it was in January last year, Windows 7 has not stopped being heavily used. Loyal users continued to use this version, providing a very slow decline in monthly rates.

End of support meant the end of updates, although some of them were provided to companies willing to pay for this additional security guarantee. Not being available to everyone, it limited the use of Windows 7.

One thing that didn't stop was the release of driver updates that kept coming through updates. Manufacturers have kept this way of keeping their hardware up to date with the latest and most optimized software.

Because even this capability now seems to be removed from Windows 7. Microsoft has now decided to discontinue this update capability due to an issue. Once the SHA-1 Trusted Root Certification Authority is shut down, it is no longer possible to maintain these updates.

An alternative would be to use a SHA-2 certificate, which Windows 7 does not support. When you download and install an incompatible driver on your computer, it no longer starts and does not work as expected. This issue affects not only Windows 7, but also affects Windows Server 2008.

With this change, however forced, Microsoft follow the path of other companies like NVIDIA. The graphics card giant and other industries have recently decided to ditch old systems and thus have encouraged users to upgrade their machines.
