Carmen Lucia made the usual decision for these cases last Friday (18). The Minister also determined that after the Ministry of Defense, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Prosecutor General’s Office must comment on the case within 3 days.

On May 23, the former Minister of Health attended an event with President Jair Bolsonaro and government supporters in Rio de Janeiro. A day later, the army filed a complaint to investigate Pasuello’s behavior.

On the 3rd, the corporation decided not to punish Pasuello, despite the fact that the Statute of the Armed Forces prohibits the participation of active soldiers in political acts. According to the press release, there was no “disciplinary practice”. The general defended himself, saying that this action was not political.

In May, when he took part in the action with Bolsonaro, Pazuello was not in the government. In early June, the general was appointed secretary for strategic research under the president of the republic.

The army’s decision was criticized in the political environment, as well as by retired generals.

After O Globo newspaper requested documents relating to the trial, the army said the investigation contained personal data and cited an extract from the Access to Information (LAI) Act, which secures 100 years of secrecy.

In this regard, four political parties filed a Statement of Non-Compliance with the Basic Regulations (ADPF) to the STF requesting the suspension of the century-old secrecy of the administrative disciplinary procedure initiated by the army.

PT, PCdoB, PSOL and PDT have argued that the measure constitutes a “grave affront” to democracy, freedom of information and administrative morality.
