Portugal recognizes Indian-made AstraZeneca vaccines and Chinese Sinovac vaccines. The Infarmed solution will generally be applied by the General Directorate of Health, until then many passengers from high-risk countries will continue to be quarantined.

There is no definite answer to the question “which vaccines are recognized in the countries of the European Union and in the six other countries that adhere to the vaccination certificate?”

For example, France, Croatia and Ireland recognize the Indian-made AstraZeneca.

Sweden is expanding tolerance to all vaccines approved by the World Health Organization, such as the Chinese vaccine Sinovac.

For example, Portugal, Germany, Norway and Bulgaria are limited to four approved EMAs: Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Janssen.

The European Union has given each member state the freedom to recognize vaccines in addition to the four that are part of the European vaccination certificate.

This implies that those arriving in Portugal from countries with a vaccine supplied by other laboratories must undergo a PCR or antigen test and, in some cases, comply with isolation conditions. This applies to passengers from Brazil, South Africa, India or Nepal.

The Portuguese-Brazilian community took advantage of the visit of the President of Portugal to ask for confessions from Covischild, AstraZeneca and Koronavac of the Bhutantan Institute. The most used vaccines in this country.

The National Medicines Administration has decided to recognize two of them: AstraZeneca’s Covishield and Sinovac of China.

According to Infarmed, the General Directorate of Health is developing guidelines for the practical recognition of these vaccines.
