Corticeira Amorim buys 50% of the Italian SACI group for 48.6 million euros

Corticeira Amorim reached an agreement to acquire 50% of the Italian SACI group specializing in the production muesli (wire parts covering the corks of sparkling wine bottles) for 48.66 million euros, acquiring a stake that was still held by the German Perlich family.

In a statement to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM), Corticeira Amorim explains that the SACI group “consists of 17 companies operating in different sectors, the main activity of which is the production and sale of muesli with a team of about 340 employees and a presence in over 30 countries. “

The main company of the SACI group is ICAS, founded in 1956 in Ivrea, near Turin, by businessman Bruno Ghetto, whose family will continue to own 50% of the group, now in partnership with Corticeira Amorim.

According to the Portuguese company, ICAS is currently “the world’s leading manufacturer of muesli“. “The SACI Group is constantly expanding its product range, which also includes caps and wire cords, seals for the production of wine and champagne,” adds Cortiseira Amorim, who also mentions that the Italian group also “provides technical support for the cellars”. and “its main industrial sites are located in Italy, Germany and Portugal, and its most important geographic markets are Italy, France and Germany.”

According to Corticeira Amorim’s statement to CMVM, in 2020 the consolidated turnover of the SACI group was € 70 million and EBITDA (profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) was € 10.5 million.
