Controversial Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary helps with Dublin flight boarding delay

Passengers filmed controversial Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary as he helped check boarding passes before his airline’s flight took off. The scene was posted on TikTok by Carlin Angelo, who was also waiting to board a flight that was delayed last Tuesday.

O’Leary, dressed in sneakers and a simple blue jacket, tied his Ryanair badge around his neck and began calling other passengers to the boarding gate, ordering them to get their boarding passes ready so he could check them and get them on the plane.

“CEO Michael O Leary in action”, says Angelo in the video, which has been viewed about 2 million times since it was posted a few days ago. Ryanair’s infamous social media team responded via the airline’s official TikTok account: “go dad”. O’Leary was also a passenger on this flight.

In the second video, which was filmed shortly after all the other passengers boarded, O’Leary grabs his red carry-on and heads for the plane as well.

The leader is controversial because of his always sincere statements, speaking his mind and not having too many filters. Aside from ideas like piloted planes and passengers traveling on foot, O’Leary also openly criticizes anyone who thinks the initiative doesn’t make sense or harms his company.

In September, Ryanair broke its ridership record by boosting travel demand after carrying 15.9 customers. The airline, however, warned that demand was partly driven by lower fares, which could affect its bottom line.
