This Friday morning, Coelima’s creditors approved the sale of the Guimarães-based company to the Mabera textile company in Vila Nova de Famalicán for € 3.7 million.

The sale was approved at a creditors’ meeting at the Guimaraes court. It was about a decision on the three proposed proposals.

The largest of these was the textile Mabera, which offered Coelima almost 3.7 million euros, plus the payment of debts to the tax authorities and social insurance, which are estimated at more than 700 thousand euros. He received 89.0158% of the vote.

Lenders Viptrade and Vizelgraf voted against the proposal, which accounted for 1.066% of loans. 215 unionized workers and the Social Security Service abstained, for a total of 9.7961% of loans. The rest voted in favor, which resulted in the approval of the sale of Coelima to Mabera for 3.7 million euros, gaining 89.0158% of the creditors’ votes.

The rest of the proposals were not voted on, as Mabera received the majority of the votes. The second highest rate was from the Mundotêxtil / Felpinter consortium, which offered $ 2.6 million plus repayment of arrears in contributions and taxes.

The lowest rate was proposed by the consortium RTL / José Fontão e Cia, which offered to pay 1,750 million euros.

It should be remembered that Coelima, a historic national textile company based in Pevidem, Guimaraes, filed for bankruptcy in April with no wage arrears but with over 500 creditors. The recognized loans amount to around 50 million euros.

The approved sale allows Mabera to pay the June salary, keeping the factory up and running.
