CMU Portugal will fund six new information and communication technology (ICT) projects. Research teams from the universities of Coimbra, Lisbon, Minho and Porto will receive € 390,000 to research fields as diverse as data science in healthcare, satellite development, human-machine interaction or traffic control to investigate cybercrime.

V new set of projects funding will begin in the next three months with researchers from 10 Portuguese institutions working in collaboration with five faculties at Carnegie Mellon University of America (CMU).

The variety of topics and research groups well represents the typology of these projects, the exploratory nature of which allows researchers to start with new ideas and take the first steps towards larger projects in the future.

The CMU Portugal program regularly supports the launch of Research Projects (ERP), the main goal of which is to increase Portugal’s international competitiveness and opportunities for science and technology innovation in the field of information and communication technologies. Since 2017, within the framework of the Program, three competitions for exploration projects have been announced, a total of 21 funded projects.

Thanks to these new projects, the number of projects supported by the international partnership since its inception in 2006 is currently 77.
