This Saturday, October 2, at 6 pm, the concert “Cancioneiro Musical Português – 40 Melodies in Portuguese with Piano – Poems by Great Portuguese Writers” will take place at Casa da Música Francisco Alves Gato in Mafra. an evening dedicated to the great composer Gustavo Romanoff Salvini, considered one of the most significant in Portuguese music of the 19th century.

Salvini has written songs based on poems by famous Portuguese authors such as Camilo Castelo Branca, Almeida Garrett, Guerra Junqueiro and João de Deus, among others. In doing so, this German composer became the first composer in the history of Portuguese music to invest in the music of these great writers. His music is clearly influenced by Schumann, Chopin and Italian bel canto and can be seen as the first attempt at consciously creating a Portuguese classical song.

Salvini was the first composer in the history of Portuguese music to write the music of great writers such as Almeida Garrett.

The concert with the participation of Tania Valente and Alexandra Bernardo (soprano) and Bernardo Márquez on the piano starring works by Gustavo Romanoff Salvini, Jose Vianne da Motta and Alfredo Keil – great composers whose predecessors were the works of Gustav.

Tickets are sold at the tourist offices of Mafra and Ericeira, in Ticket office and on the spot – two hours before the start of the performance. The cost of tickets for citizens and children under 23 years old is 3 euros, for the general public – 5 euros.
