California firefighters extinguish a fire that creates its own atmosphere

NSat least 5,400 firefighters were deployed to fight the Dixie fire in the forests of northern California.

The fire has intensified since mid-July due to stifling heat, alarming drought and incessant winds.

“Dixie Fire” is so big that in the last few days it has clouds created, called pyrocumulus clouds (or fire clouds), which cause lightning, strong winds and, in turn, ignite fire

“Tomorrow [hoje] it can be a very difficult day: if these clouds are high enough, they can cause lightning, ”warned Julia Rutford, the meteorologist assigned to the fire.

Despite its size, the “Dixie fire” has affected extremely remote areas, which explains why only dozens of structures, such as houses and other structures, have been destroyed so far.

The fires that this year they have already burned three times more vegetation than last year, common in California, but due to climate change this summer has been particularly harsh, including due to drought.

According to the preliminary investigation, The Dixie Fire was caused by a tree falling on one of thousands of power lines which make up the landscape of North America.

The power line is owned by Pacific Gas & Company (PG&E), a private operator already charged with a fire in 2018 that nearly destroyed the city of Paradise, just a few kilometers away, and killed 86 people.
