The FBI has issued an arrest warrant for boyfriend Gabby Petito, an influential person found dead by the US police, for “unauthorized use of an access device” after her death.

Gabby Petito’s boyfriend Brian Landry used a debit card and PIN on bank accounts that did not belong to her between August 30 and September, according to an indictment issued Wednesday by the Wyoming District Court. In total, the 23-year-old man, who has been missing since Tuesday, has processed more than $ 1,000 (around € 852) in banking transactions, but authorities do not specify who owns the managed account.

“While this arrest warrant allows the police to detain Landry, the FBI and our partners across the country are continuing to investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding Petito’s murder,” FBI Special Agent Michael Schneider said in a statement.

Speaking to Fox News, Brian Landry’s lawyer Steve Bertolino said he “understood the arrest warrant. [estava] are associated with activities that took place after the death of Gabby Petito, and not with her death. “

The case is in the process

Gabby and Brian took a minibus tour of the United States in July and was last seen on August 24 as she was leaving a hotel in Salt Lake City. Gabby’s last video call with her mother came on the same day the American announced she was leaving Utah and heading for the Teton Mountains in Wyoming, according to Rick Stafford, the family’s attorney.

Brian returned home unexpectedly on September 1, ten days before the girl’s family reported her missing. The boyfriend hired a lawyer and refused to speak with the authorities with his family.

It remains to be seen what happened when Gabby disappeared. Two weeks earlier, on August 12, police in the southern Utah city of Moab had been called in in connection with a possible domestic violence incident involving a couple. The police posted a video of a young woman crying, complaining about her mental health, and saying the couple fought more often.

Last Sunday, Gabby Petito’s body was found in a nature park in Wyoming. The coroner’s preliminary analysis indicates that the young woman was killed. The cause of death will only be determined after the final autopsy results.

Two days later, on Tuesday, Brian, who was identified as the “stakeholder” in the case, went missing by his family. The search for the young man is concentrated in a 9.7 hectare nature reserve near his home in North Port, Florida. The police use dogs, drones and ATVs to search for them.
