Abner Mares runs as a winner at Huntington Beach. The world champion has just sold his neat, modern home for $ 2 million, about half a million more than what he paid five years ago.
Clad in concrete, this contemporary home is located close to water on the man-made Davenport Island. One of about 400 homes on the island, it offers four bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and several custom finishes at 3,776 square feet.
Palm trees frame the entrance, leading to the foyer with the default saltwater aquarium. The wooden ceiling slanted above a large room with glass walls and a fireplace, and the adjacent kitchen had been renovated with subway tiles.

Two of the four bedrooms are master suites, and both extend to private balconies. The special entertainer’s backyard has a fountain and spa pool with sea glass tiles. An open kitchen and a too large fire pit complete the view.
As a dual citizen of Mexico and the US, Mares was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and grew up in Hawaiian Gardens in Los Angeles County. He represented Mexico at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and has hosted world championships in three heavyweights, with a career record of 35-3-1.
Maurice Frazier of Wish Sotheby International Realty holds the list. Mike Meyers from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices represented the buyer.
