Given the possibility of Eduardo Pasuello leaving for the military reserve after the end of the CPI of Covida, Bolsonaro is already planning the future of the general in politics. The president reiterated to allies and to Pasuello himself that he wanted him to be in the National Congress as a senator or federal deputy.
Pasuello says he is not interested in a political career, but admits to interlocutors that he can “take on the mission” of working with the president. In conversations he had with the former health minister on this topic, Bolsonaro emphasized that he wants him to be the backbone of government in Congress, and not in possible disputes over state governments.
Today, the former health minister’s favorite idea is to run for senatorial office from Rio de Janeiro. The possibility of the general running for Congress in Roraima or Amazonas, states where he served in his military career, is also being discussed. If the venture is to grow, Pasuello must join the same party as Bolsonaro to run in the 2022 election. The choice for this legend is still open.
Last week, the army decided not to punish Pasuello for participating in a rally with Bolsonaro in Rio. The case was closed after the President forced the Force to postpone the procedure.
