President Jair Bolsonaro (LP) said that Petrobras’ fuel price adjustment would be “a political interest to reach the federal government.”

The technical department of the administrative board of the state-owned company defends the increase in diesel fuel on the grounds that the gap between international and local prices is as high as 26%, which could affect imports and supplies to the country.

“I hope that Petrobras does not want to increase the amount of diesel or gasoline these days, which we are negotiating and agreeing with Parliament. The great benevolence of the parliamentarians in these negotiations. I can only understand that an adjustment by Petrobras now would be of political interest to reach the federal government,” the President said live this Thursday (16/6).

team change

The chief executive also assesses the likelihood of a team change. “I hope that by next week we will be able to legally and without problems change the president of Petrobras. It’s difficult because a huge bureaucracy does not depend on us, but on the council.”

Bolsonaro also emphasized that “the more people suffer, the happier the directors and president of the state-owned company.” “Petrobras is struggling to make money, diesel is at the top because of taxes and also because of the price Petrobras is charging.”

“The more people suffer here, the happier the director and current president of Petrobras. We expect the council to meet because the council does not want to meet to make a decision to replace the president.”
