The offering of messaging services and applications has never been as diverse as it is today. There are apps for all tastes and for everyone, all of which promise maximum security and privacy, and guarantee that messages cannot be read or viewed.

New information coming directly from within the FBI has shown that, in the end, not everything is true. He revealed that WhatsApp and iMessage are the apps that publish the most data, according to what was found.

Messaging services reveal a lot of data

The information is fresh and shows a new dimension in messaging services and applications. After all, the privacy and security of these offers is not fully guaranteed as there is a lot of data that can be disclosed.

This reality has been revealed internal FBI document and it shows how these applications can release data. It is clear from this list that WhatsApp and iMessage are the apps that release the most data, with limited information in both cases.

WhatsApp and iMessage are the ones that are free the most

Apple's iMessage, and subject to a court order, will give the agency access to basic user information as well as iMessage survey data. Messages are skipped, but only if the user has not backed up to iCloud. If they are on this service, Apple can access them.

The situation is different with WhatsApp. With the same mandate, a meta-service provides access to basic information about users and their actions through metadata. The big difference is that this service can provide data in (near) real time. The status of the backups is identical to iMessage if there is sync.

There are those who guarantee the privacy of users.

Other well-known services are discussed in the same document. Signal is the one that provides the least amount of data to the authorities, having only the date and time of the user's registration, as well as the date of the last use of the service. In the case of Telegram, it is even more limited, without any available information, but in certain situations it is possible to get the user's IP address and phone number.

In many cases, this is not new, as a large amount of information can be accessed by the authorities. What was unknown was the amount of data received in the case of iMessage and the speed with which it happens, like in WhatsApp.
