Represented by Vice President Rui Costa and CEO Rui Pedro Braz, Benfica’s senior management is in Milan to discuss the final details of the hiring of João Mario from Inter. Federico Pastorello, the player’s agent, is also present. In fact, all three were caught dining on a terrace in the city.

Negotiators believe the agreement will be closed on Tuesday.

As our newspaper came out over the weekend, the Reds already have a verbal agreement with the Portuguese midfielder from Friday., on a five-year contract, as well as an agreement with the Italian club, with which they agreed on an offer of 7.5 million euros.

However, before proceeding with the formalization of João Mario’s offer, Benfica would like to receive a positive legal opinion from Inter, which in the future may have problems with Sporting, since the lions have a pre-emptive right to purchase under the contract.

According to Sporting, the sale of João Mario to Inter Milan in 2016 included an anti-competitive clause that included a fine of € 30 million. However, FIFA believes that this type of reservations is illegal, which ultimately plays in favor of the nezurri and is embodied in the ongoing negotiations.

However, in the late afternoon, Benfica’s CEO Rui Pedro Braz and Joao’s manager Mario Federico Pastorello were seen leaving Inter’s headquarters in different cars.
