Belgian politician wears One Love armband at the FIFA World Cup
The Belgian foreign minister wore an armband that read “One Love” when she met FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the World Cup match against Canada on Wednesday.
Haja Lahbib was photographed wearing the colorful armband, considered a symbol of inclusiveness and diversity, which FIFA banned the captains of seven European teams, including Belgium, from wearing at the World Cup in Qatar.
They wanted to use it as a rebuke for human rights in the host country.
Lahbib tweeted a photo of herself wearing a bracelet on her left arm, writing, “My heart goes out to our red devils!”
